Fouling on technical water supply marine systems and protection method analysis of fouling on water conduits (analytical review)

Summary:
The review is dedicated to the analysis of up-to-date information on the research on marine fouling and methods of protection against fouling on water conduits of production facilities using marine waters for cooling. General information is provided on the marine technical ecosystems which arise during exploitation of these facilities. It is demonstrated that fouling is the main source of biological interference with functioning of the marine technical ecosystems. Discharging the warm waters that have gone through the cooling systems of electric power plants and production facilities or the so-called thermal pollution refers to the second category of harmful factors of the marine pollution. Passing through the cooling systems can prove to be damaging for plankton. It is stated that the modern methods of fouling fighting are subdivided into physical and chemical. The detailed analysis of these methods is provided hereby. Ecological requirements are being analyzed to the means of protection against fouling.
